Owens Companies and COVID-19

We're an essential service, continuing to support homes and businesses during this challenging time.


Our technicians will maintain a six foot distance from others when we enter your home wherever possible. In addition, our in-office staff are practicing social distancing, mostly working from home to help flatten the curve.


We are following the recent CDC guidelines and wearing masks or other face coverings when we enter buildings. This helps protect you, as well as our technicians.


We're waiving our usual physical signature requirements for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis. If signatures are needed for a process, we will either take that signature verbally, or digitally via scanned/emailed files.


If preferred, we can accept your payment via credit card over the phone, in order to limit additional person-to-person contact. However, if you would rather pay via credit card in person, our technician will wear gloves while handling your card.

To Our Valued Customers:

I hope this email finds you well. As an essential service, Owens Companies is continuing to operate in order to serve you, our valued customers. We are fortunate that the majority of our in-house staff can work remotely and the very few that do come in the office on occasion are all practicing good social distancing. As for our technicians, when we first learned of COVID-19, we asked that they not come into the office to minimize contacts, and that they practice social distancing. They are continuing this practice.

With things naturally being a little slower at this time of year as we wait for the air-conditioning season to kick in, a few of our technicians are taking short furloughs. We also have had a few in-house staff do the same. We are looking forward to having all of them back to serve you the minute the weather turns.

We do have a few customers that have asked us to take on additional work in their facilities. They have made the thoughtful determination that with many working from home, this is a good time for the Owens team to come in and get some extra work done. If this is the case for you, please be sure to call us.

We continue our in home services for our Home Comfort customers as well. Our technicians are wearing masks and we are practicing our no contact policy. We are foregoing signatures on work orders and allowing homeowners to call in payments with a credit card to minimize contact.

For our customers with air-conditioning projects they have delayed, now is a great time to get those going. Lead times for equipment are being extended in some cases so you might want to consider getting equipment ordered sooner rather than later.

I saw a Facebook post last week that really rang true to me:

April 3 years!

Everyone at Owens Companies is committed to a safe and healthy workplace allowing for uninterrupted service to you, our valued customer.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have encouraged all Owens team members to follow the prescribed protocol:

  • Frequent hand washing with soap and water
  • The use of hand sanitizers we have throughout the building
  • Avoiding close contact with people including avoiding shaking hands
  • Continual disinfecting and wiping down work surfaces
  • Social distancing as much as possible

Of course, if any team member becomes sick, is diagnosed with COVID-19, or is exposed to any individual diagnosed with COVID-19, they are to stay home. In addition, we have asked our technicians to avoid coming into the office, other than to retrieve parts and equipment from the warehouse.

Even with all our precautions, should the virus affect any Owens team member, the company has prepared for this scenario, and has equipped all in-house team members with the ability to work remotely. Having said this, in an abundance of caution and with the rapidly changing landscape of COVID-19, we will likely begin having team members work from home sooner than later.

Please know, we expect to be here for any of your service needs! At a minimum, you will always be able to reach us via our 24 hour number, 952.854.3800.

If you do require service, please understand if we ask a few qualifying questions as far as any exposure you or anyone in your business or home may have had to the virus. I’m sure you will understand if we choose not to send our technician if that is the case. If it is a dire emergency, we will try to do what we can to be there. If anyone has any questions or concerns, you can call me directly.
